We Need Your Help
FREE INTERACTIVE WHITEBOARD
Did You Know?
We are collecting old mobile phones for the Jack and Jill Foundation. If we collect 500 phones, we will get a free interactive whiteboard for First Class.
We need your help to make our dream a reality!
We currently have 473 phones. That means we need 27 more. We are over half way! PLEASE help us to reach our target. You have the power to improve the way in which we learn! Please help us!!
You can do it, go on--root in all those drawers and presses and find some old, unused mobile phones. Ask EVERYBODY you know. It may only be 1, but it's 1 we couldn't have without out you : )

Art Work
Since September, we have created many beautiful pieces of work. The following is a description of what we used and what we made.
Autumn Leaves
We drew the outline of the palm of our hand and our arm and painted it brown. This made the bark of the tree. We then painted leaves using autumnal colours such as red, yellow, orange, crimson, brown, etc. We pasted our trunks and falling leaves on to blue card. The final piece is quite effective. Check out our pictures to see how they look : )
Crunchy Critters
We created wonderful autumn creatures. We worked together with our parents and older brothers and sisters to gather autumn leaves. We all brought different leaves into school. In class we discussed the various tones apparent on the leaves, the size and shape of the leaves and then we set to work. We arranged the leaves on green card and made our "Crunchy Critters". We stuck them to the page and then outlined them using black marker. For the final effect we added wiggly eyes-all autumn creatures have wiggly eyes ; ) Look at our images to see our autumn creatures-they're really cute!
Funky Fish
We used oil pastels to draw green seaweed on our pages. We then sponged the page using blue paint. The green seaweed appeared to creep through the paint. We then finger painted some black fish and pasted them on to our page. We decided that we liked the title "Under the Sea" and have spent lots of time looking for Wally in books so set a challenge for our fellow pupils to find Nemo. He's lurking in the water-somewhere! Have you seen him??

Music
We love Music.
If you walk past our classroom you will often hear us singing many beautiful and fun songs. Have you ever heard of the following songs?
*Walk, Walk Round the Room
*The Hokey Cokey
*The Rabbit Action Song
Today in class we took our pencils for a walk, it was really exciting and we created some very interesting pieces of work. No two children in our class had the same picture at the end. We listened to Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy!
We know many lovely songs from our Religion classes too.
You should really listen out for these:
Together Again.
Look at the Clock.
My Body Clock.
Together Again is our favourite song. It's lively and we really enjoy singing it together.

Stories in our Reader
We are reading very interesting stories this year.
Ring! Ring!
In this story there is a boy called Jack. He is waiting for his friend, Sam to ring him. He runs to the phone when it rings but the phone call is not for him. The first time he answers the phone, it is for his Daddy. The second time he answers the phone, it is for his Mammy. Poor Jack is sad. Nobody ever rings for Jack! He goes out and rides his big red bike. While he is outside, the phone rings and it is Sam on the phone. He wants to talk to Jack. Daddy calls Jack. Jack is very happy that somebody has phoned for him.
Spooky Monster
Lucy and Sam go to the cinema with Sam's Mammy. They go to see a spooky film called "Spooky Monster". Spooky Monster was big and green and hairy and he had a loud voice. He said "AARGH!".

What a Writer!
Just try your best and don't forget to use tails!
Handwriting
We are all working very hard to improve our handwriting. Do you know that there are some things you need to get right before you begin to write? You should ensure you have correct lighting, sit up properly, hold your pencil properly and be prepared to try your best. We all love doing nice writing. We know that
-all letters start at the top,
-all letters sit on the line,
-capital letters take up the full line,
-lower case letters only take up half the space,
-all upper case letters should be the same size,
-all lower case letters should be the same size,
-it is very important to have a space between all new words.
This year we are putting tails on our letters. This is helping us to prepare to do joined writing when we get to Third Class!
